The journey of a man conscripted to fight in the Vietnam War. He wakes up in Sydney having lost his leg. He has no idea how he lost it. Was it during combat? Or was it as a part of some crime he keeps dreaming of? We follow his discovery from 1968 through to now. The story swaps between the jungles of Vietnam to the present - following a journalist's hunt for his truth.
The Conscript eBook John Jamieson
Every now and then a book comes along that you can't put down. This is such a book.Jameson captures the atmosphere in Australia during the period of the Vietnam War better than any other account I have seen or read so far.
The story holds our attention from start to finish without being overly sensational.
The account appears to be accurate without being weighty.
This is a bloody good read
It could benefit from some editing but this did not detract from my enjoyment as I relived those years of conscription
social turmoil in Australia.
